CAPElite Storm
Volleyball recognizes the importance of trying out for a
team. We believe that is in an important step in developing
a long-term relationship with both the athlete and her
parents. It is important to us to have a positive working
relationship with every family in our club. We intend for
the tryout experience to be one that is taken very
seriously both by the club and by the student-athlete and
conducted with the utmost integrity and professionalism.
Tryout
Format and Selection Process
Because of the importance of the tryout, we will be having
a two-session 2-hour tryout for each age group. In doing
this, the coaches and club directors will be able to better
evaluate each athlete to determine team selection and will
also help the athlete determine her desire to play for
CAPElite Storm.
There are so many factors that go into choosing
student-athletes for a team, such as work ethic, commitment
to excellence, attitude, coachability, and positional
needs. We feel that we will be able to get to know each
athlete better and, at the same time, she will be able to
see what our club is all about over a four hour time
period.
Club directors and team coaches lead the tryout sessions.
Tryouts will be conducted in much the same way as weekly
practices and will be by age groups.
It is suggested that each prospective player attend both
tryout sessions for her age group. If you are not able to
attend one of the sessions, please contact us as soon as
possible to schedule a make-up time.
The selection of student-athletes for teams is taken
extremely seriously. Each team is selected by club
directors and team coaches with input from other coaches
involved with the club. At the conclusion of each tryout
session, coaches and directors will meet to discuss each
athlete while their performance is fresh in their minds.
One of the club directors will contact each student-athlete
who participates in tryouts on or before
Sunday, November 18, 2007. At that time,
we will:
1) Offer you a position on one of our teams;
2) Indicate that you are on a waiting list;
3) Offer you a position on the developmental team (white).
If you have any questions, please contact either Donna
Pixley at 921-6825 or Beverly Russell at 933-3323 or

How
to Approach the Club Tryout
Our goal at CAPElite Storm is to educate the whole
volleyball athlete and to help each student-athlete reach
their full potential as both players and as young women. It
is our desire to build strong relationships with each
student-athlete in our club.
Players are encouraged to be themselves throughout the
tryout experience so everyone involved can determine the
“fit” in the program. We intend to teach each
player during the tryout in order to evaluate each
player’s level of commitment and willingness to
improve, her attitude and her work ethic. At the same time,
we must also evaluate each athlete’s ability.
It is extremely important to us that we maintain the
highest level of integrity throughout the tryout process
and the club season. We
DO NOT give
preferential treatment to student-athletes from any
particular school. In fact, we do not ask what school each
player attends on the Tryout Form. School attended
should not and will not have any
bearing on any student-athlete’s selection to a team.
It is our mission to place committed athletes on
competitive teams where they can continue to improve and
develop under the teaching and leadership of qualified and
skilled coaches.
