Release Forms for
YDVP
What is YDVP?
YDVP is a developmental camp designed to introduce young
girls to the sport of volleyball and help them develop an
understanding and love for the game. Additionally, YDVP can
help develop middle school players who are a bit more
experienced. Your child will receive age-appropriate
instruction during six (1.5 to 2 hour) sessions. Each
session will include skill instruction, games and play.
YDVP will use Volleylite volleyballs which are lighter
weight and much easier to handle than the balls used in
high school and college. Using these balls, each player
will be able to execute the skills required in volleyball
safely. We will also lower the nets to allow younger YDVP
players to gain confidence as they execute the different
skills using proper technique.
The most important aspect of the YDVP is the number of
contacts that each payer will get over the course of each
session. Each course will have a maximum of 45 players to
insure a coach to player ratio of 1:9 and possibly lower.
We will be using the CAP Elite facility which has three
courts so we can divide up and have plenty of room to play
and maximize each player’s level of involvement. We
believe that players improve faster if they can receive
regular feedback from coaches and contact the ball as often
as possible. The games we play during each session will be
modified to make sure that each player is actively involved
throughout the practice.
All six sessions will be held on Sundays at CAP Elite on
Anselmo off of Bluebonnet Blvd. The first course will be
available to girls in grades 2-5 from 4:00 – 5:30
p.m. and will begin on July 29, 2007. The dates for this
course are 7/29, 8/5, 8/12, 8/19, 8/26 and 9/9. We will
take the Sunday of the Labor Day weekend off. The cost of
this course is $100.
The second course will be available to girls in grades 6-8
from 4-6 p.m. and will begin on
October 7, 2007. The dates for this course are 10/7, 10/14,
10/21, 10/28, 11/4 and 11/11. The last 30 minutes of each
of these sessions will be a training session offered by one
of the highly trained CAP Elite instructors in the areas of
jump training, body weight exercises, etc. The cost of this
course is $110 and offers an excellent opportunity for
players to fine tune their skills before club volleyball
tryouts.
